  • Onward…

I think that now that the whole SuperBowl exposure thing has been openly discussed and Janet has admitted that it was her idea…so on and so forth, that it’s time to move on.  What do ya think?

I received an email this morning from a dear friend of mine out in Florida.  It makes me a little sad that some of my friends…my closest friends…live in other states.  I miss spending time with them…and this friend in particular.  We haven’t seen each other in 11 years…that alone is just sad.  We’d even lost touch with one another for almost 10 years and finally found each other again last year when he was still living in Texas.  A few months later, he was transferred to Florida.  See, he works for Disney…he’s a computer technician and they needed him at their home location instead of a remote office.  Anyway, he and his girlfriend moved out to Florida and are now away from their families and friends…it gets a bit lonely at times he said.  I can understand that.

He’d mentioned how much he misses me…and that he ocassionally looks up my profile pic on Yahoo just so that he can see me…he says it makes him feel a bit better.   That makes me sad.  I miss him too…I mean, we haven’t seen each other in so long it’s pitiful…but when we lived in Texas…we saw each other everyday!  We were best friends in high school and we were even in a band together…he was my drummer.  We used to have these late night discussions…just show up at each other’s house in the middle of the night because we needed to talk.  That was so long ago..but I remember it all like it was yesterday.

Even when I gave birth to my oldest daughter…he was there…always supporting me.  We never dated at all in high school…or after high school for that matter.  In fact, we never dated period!  We were just best friends…not that neither of us ever ruled out dating each other…but it just never worked out that way.  I was involved with my daugher’s biological father at the time…and he was always dating someone.  Not always the best person…but someone. lol

Anyway, now that we are all grown up…and both found the love of our lives, we’ve noticed that the one person like we’d like to talk about all of this stuff with is so far away.  Not fair at times…but we try to email each other when we can…and we rarely get to chat, let alone actually talk to each other.  I’m hoping that sometime soon we’ll be able to visit one another…so that I may meet this woman that he’s fallen head over heels for and he can meet my wonderful husband.  Maybe we can go to DisneyWorld at the same time…yeah…bonus!!

    Okay…I’m done now…like the title says…Onward!

    Happy Hump Day!

  • Plans gone a rye…

So Friday night my friend Evelyn comes by the house to pick Jason and I up to go out to these haunted locations around the Denver Metro Area.  Well, Jason all of a sudden isn’t feeling well and decides that it would be best for him to stay home.  We say, “Okay” and head out the door without him.  I was upset that he wasn’t coming with us considering it was his night off and I wanted to spend time with him…but also because we had rescheduled our plans of making this little excursion around him so that he could accompany us.

Anyway, we headed out the door and loaded up into the car.  We had Evelyn’s 6 month old baby with us…who promptly fell asleep…holding my hand. (awe)  Now mind you, this little venture was not going to be anything dangerous or risky…we were just going to drive out to a couple places that there have supposedly been ghost sightings.  We were not going to be getting out of the car at any time during this trip.

So…we drive out to Aurora to this place called, “Third Bridge” where supposedly 2 teenage boys were on their way out to a band concert, (they were drummers) when they lost control of their vehicle and went off of this bridge…third bridge.  The car supposedly rolled under the bridge and wasn’t found for several days after the accident occured.  Since their death, there have been reports of people hearing drums in the distance while on this bridge…and if you stay there long enough the drums get closer and closer until the sound is almost deafening.

Me, being the adventurous one that I am, thought this would be a cool place to check out…but the last time that we’d attempted to go out to this site, we couldn’t find the correct location and wound up driving to the other side of the metroplex.  Evelyn told me that she’d been there before and that she new exactly where it was and that the reports were true.  So I thought that it would be good to go out there with her.  However, when we got to the location where we were supposed to turn off onto the side road that would take us to the bridge…the road wasn’t there.  Now mind you, I KNOW that we were in the correct location…I’d been down this road before and so had she…the road wasn’t there.  We even drove straight for a bit and turned around…came back to the same location where the side road should be…and it wasn’t there.  It was there the last time I was out there just a few months ago.  This place is located out in a rural farm district…and the road that you are to turn on is just after the pavement ends and the dirt raod begins…there is a stop sign there, the only stop sign for miles…so it’s kind of unmistakable.  Ya know? But on this night…it just wasn’t there.

Well…after that, we decided that it would probably be best to just go to the other location and quit wasting our time on this one.

So we get on the highway and start heading south towards Colorado Springs.  Now, I work out in Castle Rock…which is about halfway from Denver to Colorado Springs…and we got about 4 miles outside of Castle Rock when the car started making a strange noise.  The tires were making a strange noise…it just didn’t sound right.  Then all of a sudden…we heard this loud bang!!  It sounded like a 22 caliber rifle just shot off from the rear of the car!  Yup…a tire blew out…which isn’t good when you’re going over 75 mph on a busy highway at 10:15 at night…with a baby in the car mind you!

Evelyn freaked out…and I talked her through pulling over to the side of the road as quickly and safely as possible.  Luckily for us, the car that was to the right of us saw the blow out and slowed down to let us over to the shoulder.  Once we came to a stop, I got out and looked at the back wheel on the passenger side…the tire was completely shredded and it had blown out from both sides.  All that was left was the middle section of the tire and part of it had melted to the wheel.

Evelyn called her roadside assistance and they told her that it would be over an hour before someone could get to us…ummm…not good considering where we were.  She explained to them that there were only two females and an infant in the car and we were in a pretty secluded area…not safe.  So they called the CSP (Colorado State Patrol) and dispatched an officer out to our location.  We were about 1/4 of a mile from the next exit…but it was frigid outside.

The officer showed up in about 10 minutes…he took a look at the wheel and said that we were lucky that we didn’t roll the vehicle while getting off the road.  No kidding?!  While he was talking to us, Evelyn got a call back from the towing company stating that it would be another 45 minutes before they could get to us.  By this point, she was very concerned about us being on the side of this busy highway with her baby girl in the car…afraid that we would be hit.

The officer suggested that he change out the tire and that we take the baby out of the car and onto the embankment while he does so.  So we did just that and about 15 mintues later the tire was changed…and the donut (spare tire) was put on.  We carefully drove to the next exit and stopped at the gas station.  Evelyn called the towing company to let them know that the CSP assisted us, but wanted to know how far we could go on this spare tire.  They said that with the weight in the car, it would only go about 20 to 25 miles before deflating.  That wouldn’t do….we had about 25 miles to go to get back to my house.  So at about 11:30, I called Jason and told him what was going on and asked him to come pick up the baby and I.  That way we could follow Evelyn back to our house.

So…he showed up about 15 minutes later…all bundled up in his big coat and looking very sleepy.

I felt bad having to get him out of bed at such a late hour, but I wasn’t about to let her drive that car with so much weight in it and a baby…risking another blow out.

Anyway, we followed her back to my house (via back roads) and all was well.

I tell ya what though…do ya ever get the feeling that you’re just not supposed to be doing something or going to a certain place?

I don’t think that I was supposed to go out to those locations…I mean, look what happened.  Not once…but twice.

    Not fair I tell ya.

  • Answers to your questions…

Okay…I must say one thing before giving my answers, if any of you for any reason feel that you need to ask me something…especially if is something that is bugging you, please email me and address it with me.  I don’t have anything to hide…so I don’t see a problem with discussing something with any of you.  Okay?

Now that I’ve stated that…let’s move on to the answers!

    SilverDaisy :

What’s THE WORST job you’ve ever had (paid or unpaid) and why?

This is an easy question…that would be cleaning the chicken coupes for my neighbor when I was about 9 – 10 years old.  My brother and I used to go over to our neighbors house after school…but we were treated just like one of their kids and were expected to do chores just the same…so that was given to me as a chore.

    Nanny :

    Are you happy?

Yes…I am happy.  I know that I get frustrated with my situation (home & work), but as long as I have Jason…I am very happy. Thank you Nanny.

    Branna :

If you could pick only one book to take with you to a desert island, what would it be and why?

Hmm…ya know, that’s a bit difficult because I love books…but rarely get time to read them.  I must say that I’d probably would want to bring the LOTR Trilogy book that I bought Jason for Christmas.  It has all three books in one beautiful leatherbound edition.  That would definitely help my mind escape to another place when I needed it to.

    Jason :

Why do you love me so much?

That’s simple m’dear.  You are the first man that I’ve ever known that has known me so completely.  Your understanding of me goes so deep and that is very rare.  I feel complete with you…and you have my heart.  You take care of me in every sense of the word.  You are one of the most intelligent men I’ve ever known…and you are talented beyond expression.  Not to mention that our sex life is incredible.   Need I say more?

    miss_muffet :

if you could come back as an animal. what animal would you come back as. what day of the week best describes you. how many toes do you have on your left foot. how many pictures are in your office. do you have freckles or moles. are both your feet the same size. do you sit at your desk at home with your feet under you. or sitting properly. do you have any weird fetishes. i do. shoes. do you have any cousins named vinny.

Okay…here we go!  If I could come back as an animal I think that I would like to come back as a bird of sorts.  I’ve always wanted to fly.

I think that Saturday best descibes me…it’s the one day where there is a lot of sports games playing…and that’s my kind of day!

I have 5 toes on my left foot…and 5 on my right for that matter.   Both feet are the same size.

I have many photos in my office…at work Ihave 6…at home I have about a dozen (tall ceiling…lots of wall space).

I usually sit properly on the chair at work…but never when I’m at home.  I sit in whatever position is most comfortable at the time.

Weird fetishes? hmm…I love eeyore…does that count?  I have this stuffed eeyore that Jason bought me last year for Easter.  He’s very special to me and usually sits on my nightstand next to my bed…if he’s not in the bed with me.   I sometimes pretend like he’s talking to people…like one night, Jason came home from work and took off his shoes…and the odor was a bit overwhelming…so I took eeyore and put him right in Jason’s face and said in a eeyore voice, “You stink…really bad”.  We both started laughing hysterically!

And yes, I do have a cousin named Vinny on my Dad’s side of the family…I also have an Uncle Quido.

    Sora :

do you know exactly where Foppa lives? and can you take me there?

Yes…as a matter of fact I do….and yes, I could take you there…but only if you promised not to bug him.   He is such a private person…and I respect that.  However, if you’d like to know where his favorite restaurants are…I would be more than happy to show you those and visit with you.

And I was hoping the Patriots would win the SuperBowl..and they did!   However, I felt bad for the Panthers…they played a very good game…right up to the end.  Good teams!

    PhuYuck :

Here are a few innocent questions for you:

    (1) What sort of music do you enjoy?

    (2) Where do you like to go for vacations?

    (3) What is your all-time favourite movie?

    1)   I enjoy all kinds of music…from classical to rock to opera to pop to country to comtemporary christian.  I love music!!

    2)   I love to travel!  I don’t get to do it as much as I’d like…but I like to go to places that I’ve never been to before.  I’m an explorer at heart I suppose.   However, I must say that one of the places that I’m most fond of is Mackinac Island, MI.  Jason and I went there 2 years ago…and it has always been one of my favorite places to visit…and I recommend that if you haven’t ever been there…go!

    3)   All-time favorite??  You mean I have to choose just one? I don’t think that I can…hmmm…let me think a moment…..I think that maybe I can choose my favorite type of movie…but not just one.  I love musicals…Sound of Music, West Side Story, South Pacific, The King & I…are all some of my all time favorites…but I also have a special place in my heart for Gone With The Wind.

Okay…that was it on the questions…but remember, if you ever want to ask me something…please don’t hesitate to do so.  I’m an open book!

I’ll have to tell you tomorrow about my weekend adventure…it was an interesting night on Friday.
