  • A break in the clouds…

After doing a great deal of searching and quote requests, I think that I may have found a place that will give me a new windshield with installation for only $185!!!   So, now all I have to do is wait a few weeks until I can afford to have it done.   That makes me feel a whole lot better btw. See, I told you I’d be better today!!

    In other news…

After our wonderful  temperatures the past couple of days, today is calling for flash floods!!   Talk about a switch eh?   Oh well (as my favorite donkey would say), ’tis probably a good thing to have some moisture after all of that heat.

I got an email from my X yesterday informing me that he made plans for this weekend before checking the visitation schedule (he’s supposed to have all of the kiddos this weekend and he thought he only had Corin, which wasn’t until next weekend).  So then he asks me to change my plans so that he can help his friend move.  Umm…does that seem fair to you?

Normally this would be no big deal…but I was planning on taking Dora to the Renaissance Festival this weekend as a way of saying thank you for helping me last weekend.  However, that kind of blows that.  She’s very upset with him now.

The good news is that my Mom volunteered to watch the twins so that we can go (her hand is doing better btw).   So…we will be going anyway!!! HA!

I finally talked to my boss the other day about my “raise“.  He said that the president of the company is well aware that I have more money due to me and that next week is when the salary freeze is officially lifted (hmm…I thought it was July 1st ) and that he said he would “rectify the situation then“.

So…once again, we’ll see.  I believe nothing until it’s in my bank account!!

Well…that’s it for me peeps!! Hope you have a good day!!

  • Anyone got a band-aid?

I’m so upset…  my car has a booboo!!

On my way to work yesterday, the truck in front of me kicked up a rock from it’s rear tire and it hit and cracked my windshield.

Now mind you, my car is JUST a year old and I baby it to death.  I love that car!  I checked the windshield yesterday morning after arriving to work and it was just a little star crack…so I didn’t think much of it.  However, by 12:30pm (with it being so hot out ) it had spread vertically up the windshield about 6 inches and by 4:30pm when I got out of work…it had then curved and spread across the windshield about a foot.

I’m even more upset now because I was going to have someone come out today and seal the crack so that it didn’t worsen, but considering that it’s already spread so much and it will be in the mid 90′s yet again today, there’s really no point in having it sealed.  I’m sure by this afternoon it will have spread all the way across and through my line of vision.

I realize that this happens all of the time and it’s really nothing to be upset about…except that this car is the first new car that I’ve ever owned and I’ve made sure that I take the best care of it.  That and the fact that it’s going to cost over $300 to have a new windshield put in.  It’s a 2003 Ford Focus SE and the windshields for that model are very expensive.  I’ve gotten quotes from five different locations and no matter where I go it will be around $300.

Of course I don’t have that right now, so it will just have to wait.  I just hope that I don’t get ticketed or fined for having a crack obstructing my line of vision.  Cops are quite persnickety here.  They will pick on anything to give someone a ticket…and I do me anything!

Jason got a ticket a couple weeks ago for his front door windows being tinted too dark.  They aren’t that dark at all.  We bought the car from the dealership that way…so if they are tinted an illegal shade, then we should’ve been informed at the time of purchase and in fact, I asked and was told that they were within legal limit.  Jason is fighting the fine…so we’ll see how that goes.

Anyway…I suppose I’ll quit bitching now.  I’m just so no happy at the moment…I’m sure I’ll be better tomorrow.

    Well…one can hope right?

  • Is Hell really this hot??

I think that the weather people here are truly confused.  Early this morning, around 7am, they stated that it would be a lovely 98° here today.  By the time I arrived at work, around 7:30am, they changed their tune and said it would be more like 102°.

Did I move to Arizona and forget?   I grew up in Michigan…and we have a place called Hell there…but it isn’t anywhere near being this hot!!

Somtimes I think that they just look at the mountains and take a really good educated guess as to the outcome of the day’s weather.  You know…if it’s already 60 something degrees out at 6am…then it will more than likely get up to the low to mid 90′s.  Or if they see some cloud activity in the mountain range (which is very visible from the Denver area when it’s there) they say that we “might get some percipitation today”.

    Hell…I should become a meteorologist!!

Well…I hope it’s cooler where you’re at today!!

“The restaurant, founded by Mechai Viravaidya, better known as ‘Mr Condom’, aims to educate the public about safe sex.”

Hmm…okay and you get the entertainment value of having your waiter walking around with a condom on his head…good stuff!!

    So…how was your weekend?

I had my oldest home this weekend helping me clean up a bit.  I did a lot of work, but I don’t feel that I got a great deal accomplished ya know?

We did a TON of laundry (yes, again) and gutted the linen closet in the kids bathroom.  The linen closet itself was a 2 1/2 hour project!!  But Dora was a trooper considering it was also over 95° in that room!   We had to empty out all of the towels and such out of the closet, refold most of them and then organize it all while putting it away.  It was quite the job!

We also pulled weeds out of the front flower gardens.   Let me tell ya, I thought that I’d be smart and start that in the morning while there was still shade over that area and it would be a tad cooler…but when it’s scheduled to be 95° outside…it doesn’t friggin’ matter how early you start…it’s still friggin’ HOT!! Not to mention the fact that while attempting to pull out an extremely large weed…I fell on my ass!!  Dora, of course, found this VERY humorous…but then again…so did I.

So after that, I pretty much decided that it was “indoor” type of day and made my way back into the house.

Well…I suppose that since I’m sitting here typing this from work that I might want to actually do some work.   Have a great day!!!

Would you wear this on your wedding day?

Well…if you ask me, there is no way in hell I’d have worn that on my wedding day.  However, I’m sure that a few Hollywood starlets probably will…or wear something similar to it.  What do ya think?

Okay…so remember yesterday when I asked if anyone had heard about the rumor regarding President Bush wanting John McCain as his running mate instead of Dick Cheney…well, I found a news article this morning that John McCain replied to this rumor in.  He states, “I think the day that President Bush drops Vice President Cheney will be a cold day in Gila Bend, Arizona,” he said. “I see no scenario in which the president would replace Dick Cheney.”  ~TOM RAUM, Associated Press Writer

And what was President Bush’s reply to all of the rumors you ask? Well, he had this to say about how Edwards would stack up against Cheney. “Dick Cheney can be president. Next?” Bush snapped. The White House insists that Bush is sticking with Cheney.   ~TOM RAUM, Associated Press Writer

And there ya go! I guess that Bush is sticking with Cheney after all.  However, I don’t feel that the little potshot remark against Edwards was necessary…but hey…this IS the Presidential Elections and this IS America. Would we expect any less? I think not.

This whole thing made me think a bit though…you know, about Cheney’s age and health as of late.  So let’s take a look at Cheney’s health history shall we?

Cheney, 63, has had four heart attacks since 1978, the most recent in November 2000 right after one of the closest, most stressful elections in U.S. history. A sophisticated pacemaker-defibrillator was placed in his chest in June 2001. The vice president had his annual heart checkup in May and was told there were no signs of irregularities or blockage in blood flow.  ~TOM RAUM, Associated Press Writer

Ya know what? His history is very similar to my dad’s before he passed away in 1998 at the age of 70 years old.  I hope that life doesn’t hold the same fate for Cheney, but then again…my dad also wasn’t in one of the most stressful environments in the world either.  However, Cheney is.

I don’t want anyone to get me wrong.  I have nothing against Dick Cheney, in fact, I think that he’s the best thing that Bush has going for him. However, with his health issues…he’s also the one of the worst things Bush has going for him in the upcoming elections.

Okay…I’ll get off of my political soapbox now.

So…we’ve gone from fashion to politics all in one post.  Wow…that’s a lot of ground to cover for me!!

Anyway, I hope that you have a wonderful weekend and a great Friday!!

  • Cute? Yes…but safe?

That picture reminds me of when I was a kid growing up on the farm.  We had a rooster that liked to sleep with our malamute.  It seemed to work out just fine until one day when the rooster decided to get nasty with my Dad, the malamute being my Dad’s dog, took exception to this and well…let’s just say that the next morning…there wasn’t a rooster lying beside the dog…but a bunch of feathers were on the ground.

See what I mean? Cute…yup, but safe? Umm…probably not considering that tiger could very well think of that piggy as lunch one day.

So…a few changes going on in the Presidential Campaign as of late.  Kerry has chosen Edwards as running mate….probably the best thing he’s done yet.  What do you think?  I was a bit surprised to find out he did that, but pleasantly so.  Definitely a wise choice on his part.

I also heard rumors that Bush may not want Cheney to come back on as VP…that he might call upon McCaine for the job.  Anyone else heard that?  I found that to be if anything…interesting.

I’ve been having difficulty getting to sleep lately…and actually getting rest when I do sleep.  Not sure as to why…but I’m getting sick of it.   Maybe it’s just stress.

Anyway, I hope you are having a good week!!

  • Anyone else up for a nap?

This picture kind of reminds me of my old partying days. You know…when you could pass out on almost anything?

    Happy Hump Day!

  • Belated greetings…

First off…let me just say that I have a wonderful husband!!  Did y’all read what he posted on my birthday? No? Well…you should go see!  It was beyond sweet.  Thank you baby!!

Also, thank you all for the birthday wishes!!! It was nice to read so many from you all.

I hope that you had a lovely Independence Day!

Jason took me to see Spiderman 2 on Friday…it was wonderful!! I cried…twice.  I’m just one of those people that gets really into the movie…so, yeah…I was tearing up a bit.  Don’t laugh okay!

Click For Small photoWe then went to the Rockies game at Coors Field and watched the Rockies (barely) beat the Tigers!  It was close let me tell ya!  But they pulled it off and then we sat on the field to watch the fireworks…very nice!

Saturday was spent running around town picking up a few things.  Jason took me to Russell Stover’s Chocolate Store to get me a dozen chocolate dipped strawberries (yummmmmyyy).  Then we picked up a couple bottles of champagne and a few other items for Sunday.   Then Jason went into to work and I met up with a friend and went to Bandimere Speedway to watch the drag races and firework show that followed!! It was incredible!! I wish that Jason could’ve gone with…but like I said, he was at work.

I had fun though!   I sat and played with my friend’s baby most of the time…that was fun.

The Fourth was spend sitting at home…relaxing, drinking champagne, eating strawberries and later brats while watching movies!  It was a nice relaxing day.  Of course, yesterday I spent the whole day cleaning up the house and doing laundry…haha. Figures eh?

So…what did you do this last weekend?

  • One More Day…

…and then I can say goodbye to 28 and hello to being one step closer to 30.  Hmm…is it possible to have a nervous breakdown before all of this?  Maybe…’cuz I think I may be on the brink of one….and I don’t like it one little bit.

Hopefully I’ll feel better about it all tomorrow.

So…umm…like, I’ve gotten some really cool gift suggestions…but haven’t received a damn thing.  What’s up with that???

    And don’t say it’s because it’s not my birthday…yet.

Okay…does anyone else find this photo & caption disturbing??
