Day 12 of Give Thanks

For the lovely compliments on yesterday’s post…and on the photo of my Dad. For those of you who mentioned that you could see the resemblance…’tis very true. I look a GREAT deal like my Daddy…and I’m QUITE proud of that!!

For today, I want to give thanks for the gifts and talents that God has bestowed upon me. Each of us are gifted in our own individual ways. That alone is something that is so very special.
Even though I rarely use all of the talents that I posess…it’s a sweet reminder that they are present when I do.
Anyone who KNOWS me understands that I’m not a person who brags…or boasts. In fact, I’d much rather not discuss me at all.
However, I do want to show that I am thankful for what I’ve been given…so, in order to that…I’m going to have to tell you eh?
I think that in order to restrain from writing extremely LOOOONNNGGG posts on this one…I’ll do it in sections.

Part I – Singing
See…from the time when I was VERY young…I ALWAYS wanted to be a singer. In fact, (and I KNOW you’ll laugh) when I was 2yrs old (yes…two)…I used to wander around the house singing Barry Manilow’s “I Write The Songs”!! Seriously!!
My Mom used to constantly tell me as I grew older…when I was off key and when I wasn’t quite hitting my notes and so on and so forth. It used to drive me insane!! However, I’m very thankful that she did point that out to me everytime because it just made me work harder and improve my talent.
I sang for the first time in front of a large crowd of about 100 or so people, when I was 8 at summer music camp. I’ve been in numerous bands over the years and have performed in clubs and with a few people who DID make it in the music industry.
I thought about it as a career at one point and even had opportunities…real opportunities to pursue it. However, at that point in my life I didn’t feel that it was the right time for me.
I still sing and I still love to hear the applause and I still LOVE to be on stage!! I don’t think that will ever go away.

I have been an active singer in almost every church that I’ve attended over the years. In the church that I belong to now, I was one of the founding members and helped develop the music ministry there. I have been on a leave of absense for the past few months…but am looking forward to returning to the stage hopefully within the next week or so!

I’ll share Part II…tomorrow. So, what gifts did you get?

First thank you for your wonderful comment on my site! You are the best!
Now as far as gifts I don’t think I was given very many. I was a dancer when I was young but I’m not any longer. I can’t sing, I’m a huge klutz, I’m just average on most things. I am pretty good at video games! Hehe!!
I wish I could sing. I can.. and I can hold a note.. but my voices isn’t a pretty one. You need to have that in order to sound GREAT!
That’s a great pic of your dad!!
I love to sing as well, but mostly just along with the radio or CD player ~ it’s a little embarrassing when I realise I’ve been humming along to my headphones in the office
Well as you know, I couldn’t carry a tune in a battleship, but you, my dear, sing beautifully
…
You already know my talents and have a higher opinion of them than I do myself so… ’nuff said. Thank you
You are soo lucky to have a beautiful voice! My daughter does too! I envy that.. I sound like a frog.
Well I cannot sing so that is out.. but I have strength more than I ever knew and patience… those are important to me!!

I used to sing also. Now it is all I can do sometimes to hold a note. I was once half way decent. I used to solo O Holy Night at church every year. My sister played flute acompaniment along with a friend playing the organ. We also helped start that church. See how much you find in common, when you talk a little about yourself. lol Great blog! ! ! Glad you like the animations. Plan on putting out a ton more tonight midnight xanga time, that is if I don’t fall asleep again lol. Have a great day and a wonderful tomorrow! ! ! Much love and hugs! ! ! ! ! !

Singing is a wonderful gift…I love to sing but think my daughter may be the one to do it on stage!

Hey the Children’s Choir is singing this song for Thanksgiving. Its great that you’re giving thanks, so many of us have so much to be grateful for and don’t even realize it. I also sing, I’m a great listner and I am a great friend (or so my friends tell me). I have lots of love to give, which is a wonderful gift. Have a great day.
My greatest gift is that of compassion.
