  • A bit of nostalgia…

Why is that as we get older, we seem to forget exactly how much fun it was to be a kid?

We go about our busy lives…working…running errands…cleaning…doing household chores…trying to make time for everything and never really having time to do much of anything.

Remember when we were growing up and the days seemed to go on forever? We weren’t bound by the hours in the day…just by whatever time we were told be home.

I remember leaving the house just after breakfast and not coming back home until dinner time…(at least during the summer months).  Ahhh…those were the days.   I lived on a farm…so, we’d head out early to do chores and then we were free to do whatever we wanted as long as we didn’t break anything…hurt the animals…or steal any vehicles…haha.

I used to sneak out to the pasture and go horseback riding…bareback of course.   I’d swipe a couple of lead ropes from the barn and then just hook them up on my horse’s halter…and away we went!   I did get caught occasionally though…and man would my Dad be ticked! Yup…I wasn’t exactly an angel…but my Mom thought I was.

I remember water fights in the front yard…drinking from the hose (because we were too lazy and wet to go in the house)…climbing the fruit trees and eating the fruit right off the trees.  Ah yes, the good ole days.

Now and days I’m lucky if I even get time to take the kids to the park…let alone be able to play with them.  No time…too busy cleaning, running errands…working…shopping…etc.   It’s no fun being an adult…I want to be a kid again.  I want that wonderful feeling of pure freedom that I once had when I would go off an play all day and not have to answer for anything.

Ya know…it’s an unfortunate thing that we have to get older and take on responsibilities.

  • Oh yeah, I remember those days.  It’s funny how much fun we had back then.  But these days, “fun” is something that rarely happens…usually only on vacations…and only then if we’re lucky.

  • I may have to be a grown up but I refuse to “grow up” LOL  When I start forgetting how much fun it is to be a kid, I purposely try to have fun – makes growing older a lot nicer I hope you all have a fun weekend

  • We are much busier and we have a lot more responsibilites.  Being a working mother is not an easy thing.  One thing I have noted in observing my daughter and her children…she makes sure that there is quality time with both of them every week.  It may not be a big chunk of time but it is there.  This means so very much in the development of a child.

  • Play is something that todays children are missing

  • I wanna be a kid again too. How’s this for starters…TAG, You’re IT!

    Have a great weekend Maria!

Anywyas I got so excited HInotes goal got the #1 play on sportscenter, yay for him! Hes from Minnesota so i’m impartial lol, even hough he is on the 4th line i still love him

  • I try and get out and run naked under the sprinkler in the front yard to re-live my childhood….that is until the police told me it wasnt such a good idea

  • cute flashbacks!
