  • Anyone got a band-aid?

I’m so upset…  my car has a booboo!!

On my way to work yesterday, the truck in front of me kicked up a rock from it’s rear tire and it hit and cracked my windshield.

Now mind you, my car is JUST a year old and I baby it to death.  I love that car!  I checked the windshield yesterday morning after arriving to work and it was just a little star crack…so I didn’t think much of it.  However, by 12:30pm (with it being so hot out ) it had spread vertically up the windshield about 6 inches and by 4:30pm when I got out of work…it had then curved and spread across the windshield about a foot.

I’m even more upset now because I was going to have someone come out today and seal the crack so that it didn’t worsen, but considering that it’s already spread so much and it will be in the mid 90′s yet again today, there’s really no point in having it sealed.  I’m sure by this afternoon it will have spread all the way across and through my line of vision.

I realize that this happens all of the time and it’s really nothing to be upset about…except that this car is the first new car that I’ve ever owned and I’ve made sure that I take the best care of it.  That and the fact that it’s going to cost over $300 to have a new windshield put in.  It’s a 2003 Ford Focus SE and the windshields for that model are very expensive.  I’ve gotten quotes from five different locations and no matter where I go it will be around $300.

Of course I don’t have that right now, so it will just have to wait.  I just hope that I don’t get ticketed or fined for having a crack obstructing my line of vision.  Cops are quite persnickety here.  They will pick on anything to give someone a ticket…and I do me anything!

Jason got a ticket a couple weeks ago for his front door windows being tinted too dark.  They aren’t that dark at all.  We bought the car from the dealership that way…so if they are tinted an illegal shade, then we should’ve been informed at the time of purchase and in fact, I asked and was told that they were within legal limit.  Jason is fighting the fine…so we’ll see how that goes.

Anyway…I suppose I’ll quit bitching now.  I’m just so no happy at the moment…I’m sure I’ll be better tomorrow.

    Well…one can hope right?

  • He should fight that one in court – if they sell it off the lot then it shouldnt be ticketable!

I know you how feel… it was a few months after I bought my first new car and it got it’s ding by a rock on the freeway and I cried! I actually felt better about it, it wasn’t a ding virgin anymore – although it cost a handful to fix! Hugs your car

  • That tint fine was stupid, especially if it was bought that way.  I know one person got a ticket because his tested .o1% over the limit.

  • what a Bummer.

  • Aww, I’m sorry about the window…that happened to us a few weeks ago, but fortunately the people that did it have a contract with a window place, so they replaced it for free…hope everything turns out okay with that and Jason’s ticket

  • You are not having much luck

  • that happened to my car shortly after I bought it. I was a bit grumpy as well.

The ticket seems totally unfair though, I hope he wins on that one.

  • sorry about your car :(

  • a lot of the time. your insurance will pay for the windshield to be fixed if it is in the line of vision. without a deductible. at least state farm does. so go check it out.

  • We hope, we hope a lot! love you

  • If you think that’d bad, some jackass (whose computer my dad was fixing) backed into my dad’s car while it was parked across the street from the driveway!! My dad is reaaally angry, and matching the paint is going to be quite a tough thing. And it’s my dad’s first.. wait that’s me.. second.. no that’s Ryan.. third.. well, that’s Gooey… FOURTH child
