Happy Monday Everyone
Well…I don’t know about Monday’s being necessarily happy per say…but ya know.
So did everyone have a good weekend?? Mine was OK. I didn’t accomplish all that I had intended to, but that’s the way it goes huh?
I have decided, however, that I’m going to do some remodeling to the house. Yup…it needs a bit more color. The walls are all white and the ones that aren’t…are wallpapered from ceiling to floor!! Not just wallpapered…oh no, wallpapered and bordered! I really don’t like it…at all!
Our kitchen has a lily patterned wallpaper with a border that the previous owners decided should go up and around the doorways (it’s right in the middle fo the wall) instead of ending at the doorway and then continueing on the other side. OY!! It’s a black border with the matching lily design as in the wallpaper but it’s ugly.
So, after talking with my mom and explaining to her what I’d like to do the house, she agreed and is quite excited about it all.
That makes me feel good because I really want to make this house more my own considering I’m not able to buy another one and it’s much more feesable to stay in this one for a few years. So, I figure if I can do some remodaling and fix a few things up along the way, it will add value to the home and when I do sell it…I’ll get
more for my money.
Here’s what we’re planning on doing. In the kitchen…we’re going to take off that awful wallpaper and repaint the walls with a light sand color…with a darker glaze rubbed through it…and then we’re going to put a smal mural up or stencil to help give it the look that we want…something similar to this.
Along with some of the beautiful stone signs that I’d found (and posted about) written in Italian. The family room is going to be renovated as well and will have this beautiful mural on one wall(the same as the banner on this page)…to give the feel of being in Tuscany.
I’ll take before and after pictures once this whole thing is underway.
Right now I’m waiting on some materials to be delivered and my mom and I still need to go and get the paint. But we’ve already started the transformation by purchasing new dinnerware and some vases and such. This is also helping her to get rid of some old items that she has around the house that won’t match the new decor. Now you know that makes me happy!
Little by little I’ll get this new project done…and by the time I’m finished, the kitchen, family room…my bathroom and my bedroom will be remodaled. Quite the project I know, but I’m just going to take it one room at a time.
Along with the Tuscan decor, I’m also going to be adding a few relaxing touches to the rooms so that there is less tension in the rooms. I’m adding candles and sconces and a fountain to the family room and the same to my bedroom. If I can find a wall fountain that is not expensive and small…I will add that to the kitchen as well. I already have candles in my bathroom and they are lovely, so I’ll be keeping those.
Yes…life may be hectic…but I’m working on making things a bit less stressful at home.

As long as you and Eeyore are smiling, it’s a good day for me.
you
All the work will make it worth it for you , esp to have a lovely kitchen
Your decorating ideas sound wonderful! It definitely sounds like the never-ending wallpaper border in the kitchen needs to go. I hope the paper strips off easily…lots of work. Good luck and I can’t wait to see how it all turns out. I love the murals!

Tuscan should look real beautiful.
good luck with the “remodelling”
My brother’s got a sun gold/black and vermillion-ish color scheme in his house– I think rich colors like that would go well with a Tuscan decor.
sometimes it just takes little things, to make a home look brand new and different!!
Post pics of this transformation!
